Its better to solve the right problem approximately than to solve the wrong problem exactly.

A quote by John Tukey who was an American mathematician.

You are wondering what has a mathematician got to do with design and especially UX Design?

We will come to that in a bit!

What is UX Design really?

User Experience encompasses all aspects of the end users’ interactions with the company, its products and services – Jakob Nielson and Don Norman

Thats is the best as it can get. Coming from the industry leaders.

Almost every UX designer will have their own definition and i would say all of them are right if they capture the above.

Let me start by what UX means to me

UX to me means a process which helps us understand the users motivations, needs and behaviours so we can minimize friction and frustration and also meet basic expectations of interaction & usage.

It’s the why, who, when & where, What & How.

Also, finding opportunities that may lead to delight the users through their interaction with the brand physically or digitally.

As today’s users do not interact with a product on a single touch point and expect their interaction with the product to be seamless across different devices and touch points.

Finally, good UX to me means you have taken into account the business needs, the user needs and the technology needs to deliver an experience that will help solve user problems, meet business goals and make it technologically viable.
